Using the Sumif Function - Tutorial Video

You can download here the worksheet from this video to practice it by yourself!

The Sumif function combines the simple Sum feature with the more advanced If function.

You can use it to add up the contents of multiple cells from all over the sheet into one number. Unlike the regular Sum, however, you can carefully select which cells you include in the selection by setting specific conditions in your formula.

Excel will then pull data from any columns or rows you identify using only the conditions you specified.

This kind of targeted, yet broad function, lets you pull in very specific information from a potentially huge database of numbers, without resorting to tedious equation-writing or mouse-clicking.

It is more difficult than some other functions and requires a larger set of variables/conditions, so study the video carefully to avoid any frustrating mistakes.
