Excel Count Function Tutorial - Counting of Numbers

You can download here the worksheet from this video to practice it by yourself!

Counting Numbers in Excel

The Count function can be useful when you need to know precisely how many cells in your selected range contain numbers, for statistical or other reasons.

Like other functions, use the Sigma button to get started, or if you’d prefer to code the function by yourself, type "=count(" followed by the cells you wish to include.

Keep in mind that you can include large areas of your spreadsheet into a number counting function if you need a comprehensive count.

If you start by selecting a range (and not by selecting the target cell for your answer) Excel will deposit the result in the cell directly underneath the final cell of your selected range. So if you forgot to set a target, look for your answer there.
